Loyd’s diverse background in the Financial Services industry includes Bank Management; Trust and Investment Management; Agricultural and Commercial Lending. His banking career began in 1981, his consulting career in 1992, and he purchased the firm in 2000.

As CEO of Pohl Consulting and Training, Inc., his focus is on:

Developing new products and services to meet the changing needs of the industry
Organizational assessment and consulting including management coaching, strategic and business planning
Sales management training, coaching and development
Relationship sales and service training Sales infrastructure development
Management and sales incentive plan development

Loyd is frequently invited to share his insights and expertise as a speaker at state, regional and national banking and trust conferences.

Loyd is a graduate of the Prochnow Institute Graduate School of Banking, and Southern Illinois University. He holds Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Agribusiness Economics.

Rochelle, IL is home for Loyd, wife and two sons. When he isn’t working you might find him enjoying a horseback ride on the farm on which he grew up.

Frank’s entire career has been devoted to the trust and financial services industry. Beginning in 1969, he served as an Investment Division Manager; Trust Department Manager, and as the General Manager of a subsidiary to a major Chicago-based financial institution. He knows the ins and outs of the industry and what it takes to be successful. Before moving to the Executive Search Division as it's head in 1992, Frank served in our firm’s consulting and training division.

Frank’s particular areas of expertise beyond Executive Search include:

Investment management for individuals, personal trusts, employee benefit and Taft-Hartley funds
Administration of living and testamentary trusts, probate and guardianship estates, custodial and agency accounts
Departmental management with a focus on profitability and quality service

Kevin is a 25 year veteran of applying legal, regulatory and compliance realities to create competitive advantages for banks, registered investment advisors and broker dealers. As General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and business unit leader for PrimeVest Financial Services, (now Cetera Investment Services), and later as President and CEO of ING National Trust, Kevin has been successful in guiding highly regulated organizations through aggressive growth and doing so in a manner that enhances the firm’s legal and compliance effectiveness.

You may have heard Kevin as a speaker at financial services conferences on legal and regulatory topics affecting Wealth Management and, in particular, addressing the overlap of banking, FINRA and SEC regulation. Kevin is the author of numerous articles and white papers addressing Wealth Management topics such as the application of the SEC’s Regulation R in bank – broker dealer networking arrangements, and the sharing of bank trust employees with a broker dealer.

Kevin earned his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchel College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Education from South Dakota State University. He holds the FINRA Series 7 and 24 registrations.

In his spare time he is restoring, bolt by bolt, a 1930 Ford Town Sedan and has the requisite bruised knuckles as proof.

Client firms of all types benefit from Michael’s broad experience gained as a consultant, as well as his work leading a community bank Wealth Management Group. His time ‘in the field’ provided real world lessons and demonstrated results at the top- and bottom-line. His team also excelled in community engagement pioneering new community activities and engaging bank and community resources.

Jeff has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. He has a diverse background in the industry including starting his career as a financial advisor at a national Broker Dealer, a Regional Director at two Turnkey Asset Management Platforms (TAMPs), a Senior Managing Director in Wealth Management/Trust at a bank, and as VP of Wealth Management at an RIA.

Jeff’s broad background and exposure to many different areas of the financial services industry gives him unique insights into the critical elements for a successful financial advisory firm. In his role as a Regional Consultant, he guided Independent Financial Advisors and RIAs on how to attract high net worth clients by providing institutional investment solutions and through practice management consulting. At his next position, he assisted with the creation of a Practice Management Group to support Advisors grow their business. He was also instrumental in the growth and restructuring of a bank Trust Department into a comprehensive Wealth Management Organization. He has spoken at several industry conferences on various practice management and investment topics.

Having worked with both Financial Advisory Clients and Independent Financial Advisory Firms across the country gives him a rare perspective he can bring to Financial Advisory Practices.

Jeff is married with two young sons that keep him busy. In his free time, you can find him playing with his boys, cooking, hiking and exploring as many places as he can through travel.

Eric joined the firm in 2008 and has over 25 years of experience in finance, operations, and IT in a variety of industries including healthcare, shipping, manufacturing and distribution. As part of the acquisition of Trustcompare, Eric created the entire Trustcompare infrastructure, including the online data collection system, a database system for data manipulation and analysis, and the report engine for creating Trustcompare reports. He has rewritten each component of the system to improve the user experience and utilize new technologies. Eric produces the Trustcompare Insight quarterly industry analysis report, manages Trustcompare data tools, develops new products, and performs consulting engagements.

Eric is a cum laude graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and he holds an MBA from Washington University, Saint Louis, Missouri.

Charlotte, North Carolina is home for Eric, his wife and two children. His interests include reading, sports, and cooking.

Office Manager

Brittany has been the Office Manager for Pohl Consulting and Training, Inc. and Trustcompare® since 2019. Keeping the office running smoothly for clients and associates is her primary focus. She also works closely with company partners to meet all equipment and organizational needs, maintains the Pohl Consulting and Training, Inc. website and works with the Trustcompare team in report production. In addition to handling registrations for all of our open-registration training and forums, she coordinates the off-site training and company events.

Brittany is a graduate of Northern Illinois University and Rockford University. She also holds a Master of Business Administration degree, as well as paralegal certification.

When Brittany isn’t busy keeping the Associates of Pohl Consulting and Training, Inc. organized and meeting deadlines, you might find her working on her latest home renovation, or doing anything outdoors.

For more than 25 years, Jamie has advised banks, registered investment advisors, and broker dealers on a myriad of legal, regulatory, and compliance issues with the primary goal of helping his clients “maximize business while minimizing risk” by getting to “yes” where others could not get past “no.” In doing this, Jamie focuses on finding efficiencies through simplifying unnecessarily complex processes and helping organizations transition to more effective and efficient processes as they grow, simultaneously enhancing both business opportunity as well as legal and compliance effectiveness.

Jamie has developed and delivered multiple presentations on legal, regulatory, and compliance risks facing financial institutions and how best to mitigate those risks, educating audiences from small groups to over 400 people. His extensive experience handling litigation and regulatory enforcement matters allow Jamie to provide real-world advice on what clients should do to address and reduce real, material risks facing their organizations.

Jamie earned his Juris Doctorate from University of Illinois College of Law, cum laude, after completing his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics with a minor in Business Institutions from Northwestern University. He holds the FINRA Series 7, 24, and 66 registrations.

In his spare time, Jamie is an avid road cyclist and baseball fan.

He has been a trainer and national conference speaker for the ABA, FIRMA and Texas Bankers Association.

Mike has an MBA in International Business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Redlands. His professional certifications include: Securities Operations Professional (CSOP), Fiduciary and Investment Risk Management(CFIRS), Corporate Trust Specialist (CTTS) and PMI Risk Management Professional (PMIRMP).

Mary Kocher is a former Trust Wealth Advisor and Bank Examiner with extensive fiduciary and operational experience within a Trust and Wealth Management environment. She is a strong planner an organizer who can prioritize multiple assignments and deliver superior results under tight deadline requirements. She has a track record of identifying and exceeding client needs and goals while maintaining compliance within policies and procedures, in addition to requirements set by federal and state regulatory agencies.

Her professional experience includes Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Senior Risk Management Specialist and Senior Community Regional Specialty Bank Examiner and Senior Trust Officer with a two large regional organization and a several community banks in PA. Her professional designations include Certificated Personal Financial Planning and Certified Fiduciary Investment Risk Specialist (CFIRS).

Her role at Pohl Consulting and Training is to provide compliance and operations consulting to client trust organizations. Her work includes Trust policy manual reviews and updates, examination remediation, forensic operations analysis and other compliance and risk management related projects.

She lives with her husband in Delaware.

Steven Schaeffer, is a recent addition to the team at Pohl Consulting and Training, which provides a wide range of regulatory and compliance services involving wealth management to banks, registered investment advisors and broker dealers. Steven offers clients the benefit of more than 30 years of experience in managing bank-owned trust and wealth management organizations, specializing in money management, farm and ranch management and administration of South Dakota trusts for wealthy families from around the nation. Steven most recently managed Dacotah Bank Trust and Wealth Management of Aberdeen, South Dakota for more than 21 years. Steven offers expertise on: estate planning concepts, tools and techniques; planned giving tools and techniques; business development/rainmaking; compliance and regulatory management; delegation and specialization. Over the years, Steven conducted numerous speaking engagements and presentations from foundation boards to seminars and conferences of more than 200 participants. Steven earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and History from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In his spare time, Steven enjoys time with his beautiful Wife, LaVonne, and 13 grandchildren, travel, hunting, fishing, tennis, pickle ball, golf, hockey, raising animals [bison, pheasants, horses] and walks at sunset.

Pete Williams has been a member of the California Bar for over 40 years. His law practice was concentrated in the areas of estate planning, trusts, probate and business planning. He is knowledgeable of generational wealth planning utilizing a variety of trust structures and techniques and has represented clients in probate as well as trust litigation. He is conversant in the language of revocable, irrevocable, generation-skipping, marital and charitable trusts. He attended law school while working with a national investment firm as a financial consultant and upon passing the bar exam, formed an NASD Broker-Dealer for which he was President, part owner and Registered Principal. He sold his firm to a larger regional securities firm. For the past 20 years, he has worked in-house with several bank trust departments from small regional banks to a large national institution. He has worked as a senior trust officer working directly with clients trust needs. He has acted as a compliance officer drafting policies and procedures under federal and state regulations. He has been retained as a specialist in trust department mergers and spin-offs and active in the formation of two trust companies. His entire career has been involved in various aspects of wealth and estate planning. His clientele has included ultra-high net worth families and qualified plans. Mr. Willilams earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of California and a J. D. from Western State University. He lives in Pasadena, California with his wife of 40 years.
